These calculations are based on available short circuit current, protective device clearing time and other applicable one line diagram information. We will calculate incident energy levels and flash protection boundaries at all relevant equipment busses. Actual available fault current at the bus and total clearing time of the upstream protective devices greatly affects incident energy.
We will determine magnitude of arc hazards using methods from NFPA 70E®, IEEE 1584 or NESC Tables 410-1 and 410-2. The results will identify:
- Incident energy exposure of the worker (cal/cm2)
- Flash protection boundary
- Appropriate work distance
- Required PPE (rated in arc thermal performance value (ATPV) and hazard risk categories (HRC) levels)
